Cycling to Nandi Hills

This weekend, my fellow intern Katy and I cycled to Nandi Hills, a hill fortress outside Bangalore. It was fantastic! I'll edit this post with more narrative this evening or tomorrow.

Color

 

Yesterday, I set out to a store in Bangalore that sells textiles from the Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing in Jaipur. Anokhi collects and preserves block printed cloth. Both the wood blocks and the resulting prints are beautiful. On my way, I took a detour through a residential neighborhood and got swept up into a small parade. Each local temple had a float and filled the street with dancing, colored pigment and spices. These kids were just getting started.

Madikeri Hills

Here's a panoramic shot of the hills surrounding Madikeri in the afternoon. I took another photo at dusk during a great lightning storm - the fog muffled the lightning so it just appeared in pictures as orange light.

Nagarahole National Park

After a late night on the minibus getting to our homestay in Coorg, the Simpa team got up before dawn to see wildlife at Nagarahole National Park. Unsurprisingly, we didn't see any tigers, but we did see fresh tiger tracks, elephants, monkeys, a peacock, bison, spotted deer, a very large frog, and some nice scenery.

Wedding Adventure

This weekend, I joined my coworkers for an adventure to Nagarhole National Park, then over to Madikeri for an evening and to a wedding in Mysore. So lovely!
